HAWKES HAPPENINGS

The Newsletter of the Hawkes Bluff Homeowners' Association

Volume 9 Number 6 September, 2000

A nominations meeting will be held at 7:30pm on Tuesday September 26th at the Ivanhoe FireStation community room-please plan to attend

NEWS FROM YOUR BOARD

The last quarterly meeting was held on July 25th attended by some of our residents. Since then your board has met as usual on a monthly basis to deal with various items.

Many residents will be aware of the nightmare mess that the construction caused at the Dykes Road entrance. This has been the subject of a good deal of communication from the board to the parties involved particularly as trees were removed and the sprinkler system disrupted. Your board was anxious to ensure that no additional expenses would be incurred by the association in making good the damage at this entrance. Before long we anticipate that those parties involved in the construction work will be the ones restoring that entrance to its former beauty and ensuring that the sprinkler system is working properly again there.

On the topic of entrances at long last all the permits etc have been completed and we finally have a charming entrance sign for the north - Griffin Road - entrance. Many thanks to everyone involved for all their persistence in making this a reality.

It's been a long hot summer and once again we must remind residents that many roofs are in need of cleaning. Driveways and other items need attention too at several homes so please take the time now to walk around the exterior of your home and attend to such upkeep tasks.

Residents are also reminded that this is very definitely hurricane time and tree limbs all too easily become missiles in storms so please trim your trees now - thanks

It's approaching the time of year to elect a new board of directors for your homeowners association. The annual election is next month (October 24th) but prior to that as usual there will be a nominations meeting this month on September 26th. Please give some thought to who you would like to see on the board for next year. Perhaps consider running for the board yourself- it takes just a few hours each month and is not a difficult task - no prior experience necessary!

Residents are encouraged to attend all quarterly and special meetings especially the next meeting which will include nominations for the new board. As always the meeting will be held at the Ivanhoe Fire Station Community Room on Tuesday September 26th at 7:30pm and refreshments will be served.

COMMUNITY-WIDE YARD-SALE

It's here.., it's time for another of the Hawkes Bluff community-wide yard-sales. Clean out those garages, attics and so forth and get everything ready to sell on:

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September

Both days are yard sale days - from 7:30am to 4pm

How do you take part? Just put your stuff out and start selling. The sale has been advertised in the Flyer and the association notice boards announcing it will be placed at all three entrances to remind everyone.

Good luck - hope you make plenty of money!!
