HAPPY PASSOVER / HAPPY EASTER

NEWS FROM YOUR BOARD

Since the January quarterly meeting your board has been attending to various items. A major concern is the recently erected fence around a lot on Huntridge Road. This fence was erected without permits from the association or from the Town of Davie. The board members have been extremely frustrated in trying to deal with the owner of this lot and the entire situation. The Town of Davie is assisting in pursuing the lot owner who is very much in violation of Town code. Residents can be assured that action is being taken. For details and how you can help please see THE FENCE on page 2.

Further construction at the Dykes Road entrance continues to make this area an eyesore. We understand the current work to be related to road widening to provide an additional turn lane for the new Shiva Vishnu temple being erected on Dykes Road directly opposite Huntridge Road. Hopefully this project will be completed soon and our entrance can be returned to normal. Your board will ensure that any damage to our plants or to our sprinkler system will be made good. At the north end of Hawkes Bluff Avenue at the Griffin Road entrance the long-awaited sign should be erected shortly since the permit process is finally complete.

It has been some time since FPL promised additional light poles and many residents are wondering what is going on, particularly those with half-completed work on this in their front yards. We have pestered for a completion date and residents should notice more activity on these light poles over the next few weeks.

Most residents have already paid this year's association dues and less than 30 final notices were sent out. Many of the recipients of final notices paid right away leaving us with only 10 outstanding. Liens will be filed against these properties followed by foreclosure.

The community-wide yard-sale weekend last month was a success for those who participated (despite unseasonal rain on Sunday). Another community-wide yard-sale weekend is proposed for mid-September. Bulk pick-up is scheduled for Monday, September 18th so the yard-sale is proposed for September 16th and 17th. More on this nearer the time - any residents with questions related to this are urged to contact the board - thanks.

The next PICNIC is scheduled for Sunday 30th April (see flyer enclosed) and residents are urged to respond so that sufficient chicken and ribs will be available for all.

The association has changed to a new email address of hawkesbluff@hotmail.com but our web-site

remains unchanged at: www. hawkesbluff, com This site is constantly growing and well worth periodic visits for all the latest information as well as meeting minutes, newsletters, association documents, etc.

Quarterly meetings are always advertised in advance on the meeting notice boards at all three entrances. Refreshments are served at quarterly meetings and your board looks forward to seeing residents at the next

QUARTERLY MEETING on Tuesday April 25th.

THE FENCE

(Extracted from your association web-site)

The fence (pictured on the web-site), on Huntridge Road, was constructed without Association approval or Davie Building Permits. The Town of Davie has cited the owner of the lot for the violation and fines amounting to $250.00 per day are mounting. The owner will have to appear before a Special Master to answer the violations and before the violation is cleared, the fence will have to come down.

In addition, the Association has taken legal action to have this fence removed as per our Covenants and a lien is about to be filed by our attorney for nonpayment of his legal fees. Also, the owner of this Lot and the one next to it, have not paid their yearly Assessment. If this Assessment has not been paid within the next two weeks, the Association will file liens for this as well. If these liens are not satisfied within 15 days, we will seek foreclosure on these Lots.

If you are upset about "The Fence", please feel free to contact the owner directly to voice your displeasure. All the information is listed below.

SIDEWALK CLEANING

The board plans to have the sidewalks in the common areas pressure cleaned. This will be the area between the lakes on Hawkes Bluff Avenue and the sidewalk alongside the wall on Dykes Road.

Hawkes BiuffAvenue and Huntridge Road are the only streets in our development with sidewalks and residents on these streets are reminded that they are responsible for cleaning the sidewalk outside their homes.

ASSOCIATION PICNIC

The association picnic is scheduled to take place onSunday 30th April from 11am to 5pm

As usual the venue is Tree Tops Park and we will be in the Gumbo Limbo Pavilion. The association will provide meats, rolls and soft drinks and all homeowners attending are asked to contribute a dish.

Those planning to attend or wanting to volunteer their help should contact Carmen Tronolone at 680-9943 or Mo Christie at 434-8287. Or respond by e-mail to

hawkesbluff@hotmail.com or CompuMo@aol.com

(use a subject of "Homeowners Association picnic"). Please reply by April 27~h to allow time to shop for adequate supplies of food and soft drinks and to prepare the ribs.

Please note that this park permits beer and wine but no hard liquor so feel free to bring your own beer or wine and don't forget to use the recycling bins for those beer cans on the day. Many of the board members will be attending and look forward to seeing plenty of residents at the picnic.

ARE WE LOOKING GOOD YET?

There are just a couple of items We would like to bring to residents' attention regarding compliance with those little rules that exist to keep our community looking great. Of course, everyone is paying attention to their roofs and driveways but.., mail-boxes? trash?

There was talk at the last quarterly meeting of uniform mail-boxes but don't worry - there will be no effort to make this happen! However, homeowners are urged to take a close look at their mail-boxes many of which have been around for over 10 years and are looking a little sad and neglected. Perhaps a coat of paint or some varnish might help or maybe a new mail-box. Please take the time now to give your mail-box some attention - thank you.

We would also like to remind residents that trash should be kept out of sight except on pick-up days (Mondays and Thursdays). Thanks again.

NEW TOWN OFFICIALS ELECTED

Following the recent elections in March there are some changes on the Davie Town Council. The current council members are:

Mayor Harry Venis

Vice Mayor Richard Weiner

Councilmember Judy Paul

Councilmember Kathy Cox

Councilmember Geri Clark

Any council member may be contacted directly at the Town or log onto the association web-site for direct links to e-mail any council member. Judy Paul is the member responsible for this district and she has a complaint form for residents to fill out. This form is also available on the association web site or can be obtained directly from the Town.

COMMUNITY SERVICES / ELDERLY ACTIVITIES

In the last newsletter there was an article about community services and activities for the elderly and we appeal to residents to let us know any additional information. We know that many residents here have elderly relatives either living with them or visiting for several weeks at a time especially in winter. We would love to provide more information and perhaps to hear news and tips on activities and pastimes from some of these residents - thank you.

HOUSE PAINTING

The association board urges all homeowners who are thinking about repainting the exterior of their homes to exercise reasonability regarding color choices and to consider their neighbors. While we are not in a position to try to dictate color schemes, for the good of the overall appearance of our community we urge conservatism - thank you so much.

PEOPLE NEWS

ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Congratulations to Louise Causey and Mike Castro of Lancelot Lane who became engaged Valentine's Day

Please let us know of recent births, marriages, birthdays, etc and share your special occasion or achievement with the neighborhood - thank you.

PRUNING FOR HURRICANE SEASON

It's mid April and the start of Hurricane season is little more than 6 weeks away. Recent rain and wind storms will already have provided a clue as to which of your larger trees and shrubs need a good pruning as soon as possible. Please remember that large tree limbs can only be picked up at bulk pick-up time as there is a 401b limit on what is picked up weekly. Please bag all yard trimmings and clippings if not able to recycle.

For those interested in recycling and making better dirt to work with than our natural environment provides it's very easy in this climate. Choose an area about 3 feet square in an unobtrusive place in your yard. Make a compost heap starting with branches on the bottom. Alternate layers of grass clippings and tree or shrub trimmings. Once the heap is 4 or 5 feet high just leave it to rot and in 3 months time you will have nutritious black dirt to add to your veggie garden.

What veggie garden you ask? Look for news on that in August - the month you will want to prepare a veggie plot for September plantings for fresh garden produce for the holiday season and all those extra guests!

CELEBRATIONS

St Patrick's Day came and went and some residents were partying. Plans are under way for family meals to celebrate Passover and Easter. Memorial weekend with the start to pool party season is not so far away. We would love to publish news of your celebrations or favorite recipes for such occasions.
