General Meeting

Present: Howard Neu, Jay Stahl, John Pickett, Mo Christie, Gretchen Farmer, Jeff Stoller, and Mike Murphy

The meeting was called to order by Howard Neu, as President at 7:40 p.m. Howard led the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call of the directors was then taken, with all directors being present.

Treasurer's Report: Jeff reported that there was presently on hand, in the various bank accounts, the following sums:

Checking account: $1,261.37

Money market: $ 600.95

Money market: $ 7,108.21

CD: $21,250.91

Total: $30,921.44

President's Report:

Howard introduced Dean Alexander who is campaigning for election to the Davie Town Council, District 4. Howard is Mr. Alexander's campaign treasurer. Mr. Alexander spoke at length regarding his plans for the future, if elected. Mr. Alexander also spoke about his various accomplishments, i.e., obtaining of $25,000.00 cash from Comcast and BellSouth for video equipment, Town bus system.

Howard read a letter from the Association's attorneys, dated January 8, 2001, directed to the State Department of Transportation concerning I-75 landscaping issues (5' hedge as opposed to 12' hedge; necessity for a sound barrier wall). There was to be a Master Plan Study for I-75 with two workshops, to study I-75 traffic patterns. The workshop for Dade County would be held January 29th at the Barbara Goldman High School and for Broward County on February 1st at Flanigan High.

Holiday lighting awards (gift certificates) were given to:

Efrain and Josephine Rivera, 5501 Hawkes Bluff Avenue - Best major light display

Daniel and Barbara Pilger, 5071 King Arthur, Best daytime display

Thomas and Marcy Stone, 5050 Hawkes Bluff Avenue - Best small display

Robert and Tina Gennell, 4870 E. Roundtable - Most creative

Scott and Debbie Brock, 5681 Hawkes Bluff Avenue - Best use of lights

Bill and Sharon Englebrecht, 5711 Briarwood Way - Best children's display

The next agenda item was a review of the 2000-2001 Budget, which was reviewed line by line. One new item contained within the Budget was a cost item of $5,000.00 for security (off-duty police) in view of the recent vandalism. Various questions were asked and answered regarding Budget items.

Due to the recent DOT work along I-75, it was noted that the Association fence sustained damage caused by the neglect of DOT. This matter will be addressed by the Association's attomeys.

Miscellaneous

A. John Pickett advised that he was contacted by a resident regarding floor tiles lifting. He stated that any one experiencing this problem would have to file a claim with their insurance company. John also advised that numerous compliance letters had been sent out, with some complaints be redirected to him.

B. Jay Stahl discussed the update to the website. He provided a link to the Department of Revenue which would facilitate residents addressing the issue of the 1-75 work being done. Further, Jay advised that he added an editorial page and would be adding a classified section.

C. Mo Christie discussed the newsletter, the upcoming picnic (April 22nd), community yard sale (March 17th and 18th).

D. Mike Murphy discussed some of the landscaping changes. He also advised that the carrotwood trees (along the townhomes) were scheduled to be removed. Mike advised that by Saturday (January 27th), all lights should be in working order.

E. Gretchen Farmer asked if the appropriate authority could be contacted regarding a littering problem at the Tom Thumb.

F. John Pickett discussed the recent developments regarding the new HHH high school and its impact on the Weston and Ivanhoe communities.

There being no further business, upon motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:20 p.m.
